Nottingham Law School's Professional Courses Scholarships

You get a reduction of up to 50% of your tuition fee for one of Nottingham Law School's professional law courses at Nottingham Trent University. The money comes off your fee at enrolment, so you pay less rather than receiving a payment. Full-time students get the reduction in their first year. Part-time students get it split across their study years. There are two lines: one for academic excellence, and one for applicants who have overcome significant personal, social or educational challenges. You apply for whichever of the two fits you best, not both.

Who can apply

• Course: You have an offer of a place on one of the eligible law courses, such as the LLM SQE 1 & 2 Preparation Course, the LLM Law Conversion and SQE 1 Preparation Course, the PG Diploma Conversion Course, or a Barristers Training Course (full or part time).
• New student: You are starting a new postgraduate course, not continuing an existing NTU course. Moving to a new postgraduate course counts as new.
• No other funding: An employer, government or other funding body does not already cover your fees, fully or partly.
• Which line: You either have a strong academic and personal track record, or you have overcome major personal, social or educational difficulties. You pick one line to apply for.
• Nationality: UK and international applicants can both apply.

How to apply

First accept your offer and get your NTU student ID number. Then fill in the scholarship form and pick the line that matches you. You provide evidence of your academic results, your work and life experience, and what you expect to gain from the course. A committee decides, and you hear the result within four weeks of the deadline.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is limited to a short list of professional law courses and to applicants who are not already funded, so the eligible group is fairly narrow. It is competitive, and the committee picks those who best meet the criteria, so a clear, well-evidenced case for your chosen line matters most. Note that the current round is closed, so check for the next cycle before you prepare a form.
