About this scholarship

Academic Excellence Award

You receive £2,000 (about 2,300 EUR) in your first year of a bachelor's degree at Aberystwyth University in Wales. It is a one-off reward for strong exam results before you start, paid in instalments while you study full time. There is no separate application: the money is granted automatically once you meet the grades and enrol.

Who can apply

  • University: You study full time for a bachelor's degree at Aberystwyth University, with 120 credits per year.
  • Where you live: You are based in the UK. International students cannot apply.
  • Field of study: Almost all undergraduate subjects qualify. Veterinary Science and Nursing do not.
  • Entry point: You start in year 1. Courses shorter than 3 years do not qualify, and neither do students transferring into year 2 or 3.
  • Grades: You reach at least one of these: AAA at A-level, DDD in the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma, 34 points in the International Baccalaureate, or an equivalent UCAS tariff from other listed qualifications. Your best 3 qualifications count, and a mix of A-level and BTEC is allowed. Nothing below an A at A-level or a Distinction at BTEC Level 3 is accepted. A grade A in the Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma (including the Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate) can replace one A-level grade.

How to apply

You do not apply. If you choose Aberystwyth, enrol in September and reach the required grades, the award is granted automatically.

How realistic are your chances?

There is no competition and no selection: this is a guaranteed reward, not a contest. If you are based in the UK, start a qualifying degree at Aberystwyth and meet the grade threshold, you receive the £2,000 automatically. The only real hurdle is reaching the high marks (AAA or equivalent), which sit above a standard offer.
