What the Cardiff maths scholarships give you

You will receive a one-off bonus of about 1,150 EUR (1,000 GBP) if you are one of the five new mathematics students with the highest entry grades. The money comes from the School of Mathematics at Cardiff University and does not need to be repaid. Once you have started your degree, you can win further bonuses. The five students with the highest average marks in their first year will each receive approximately 575 EUR (500 GBP), as will the top five in their second year. Every year, there are also additional prizes for outstanding achievement in specific degree programmes or modules, some of which are funded by companies and government bodies.

Who can apply

• Degree: You are starting a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at Cardiff University.
• Where you study: Cardiff University in the United Kingdom.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Grades: To qualify for the entry-level award, you will need to have some of the best A-level results (or equivalent qualifications) amongst the applicants. To qualify for the year group awards, you will need to have one of the top five average marks in your year group.
• First choice: You have listed Cardiff as your first-choice university.

How to apply

You do not need to submit a separate application for the entry-level award. Cardiff University automatically selects the five students with the best grades and notifies the winners in writing at the start of the academic year.
