Julian Sullivan Award

You are to receive a one-off prize of about 620 EUR (£500) for outstanding achievement in the field of ‘Fine Art Media’. This is the department at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London (UCL), which specialises in photography, film, video, sound and digital media. The award is presented every year in June. It is a prize rather than a monthly scholarship; therefore, your achievements are recognised with a lump sum rather than financial support for your studies over a longer period.

Who can apply

• School: You are studying Fine Art at the Slade School of Fine Art, which is part of UCL in London.
• Area: They work with visual art media (photography, film, video, sound and digital media), not with painting or sculpture.
• Merit: You have produced outstanding work in the field of fine art. The prize recognises your achievements and is not awarded on the basis of financial need.
• Nationality: Open to students of all nationalities.

How realistic are your chances?

This is an annual prize awarded at the discretion of Slade staff – usually on the basis of internal nominations rather than an open call for entries. You cannot simply apply for it. The prize is awarded to an outstanding student in the ‘Fine Art Media’ programme, making it an extremely selective award. It is best to produce outstanding work in this field during your studies and let that speak for itself.
