About this scholarship

L.M. Rothschild Scholarship in French

You will receive about 620 EUR per year (£500) for up to two years to help you get started on a Master’s degree programme in French. The scholarship is awarded by the Department of French at University College London (UCL) as part of its ‘School of European Languages, Culture & Society’.

Who can apply

  • Study phase: You are in the final year of your Bachelor’s degree in French at UCL.
  • Your plan: You would like to obtain a Master’s degree (MA).
  • Field of study: French.
  • Grades: The prize is awarded to the best students, so you’ll need top marks in your degree.
  • Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

Please send your application by 15 May to the Head of the French Department. Please enclose your academic transcript and a one-page summary of your proposed research project for your Master’s programme with your application.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is very specific: you must be in your final year of a French degree at UCL and intend to go on to complete a Master’s degree, meaning that only a few people meet the eligibility criteria. If you clearly fit this profile and can demonstrate good grades and a compelling research proposal, your chances are good.
