What you get

You will receive a 20% discount on your tuition fees discount for a face-to-face postgraduate programme at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), whether full-time or part-time. If, instead, you are undertaking a research postgraduate programme (PhD, DPhil, MPhil or part-time doctorate), the 20% discount applies only to your first year of full-time study or your first two years of part-time study. Full-time students receive the discount at the start of their programme. Part-time students receive it at the start of each new academic year. UWE Bristol offers this discount to its own former students who return to pursue a higher academic qualification.

Who can apply

• You are a UWE Bristol graduate: You have completed a Foundation course, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme at UWE Bristol, including a programme undertaken at a UWE partner university in the United Kingdom or abroad. Other academic achievements at UWE will also be recognised: at least 60 credits from eligible CPD courses (continuing professional development courses for which credits are awarded), a certificate or diploma from UWE or a partner institution, an eligible period of study abroad or an Erasmus exchange, or an eligible summer school programme.
• You are moving up a level: Your new degree programme must lead to a higher qualification than the one you have already obtained at UWE. A postgraduate diploma leading to a Master’s degree counts towards this. A second diploma at the same level does not count.
• Your course is not on the excluded list: The discount does not apply to refresher modules, CPD or integrated courses, dual degree programmes, any PGCE courses, the PG Certificate in PET-CT, the PGDip in Public Health, the MSc in Nuclear Medicine or the MSc in Medical Ultrasound.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Subject: Every subject, with the exception of the courses listed above.

How to apply

There is no separate application process and no application deadline. Simply quote your UWE Bristol student number when applying for your postgraduate programme. If you do not know your student number, your record will be identified using your personal details. UWE will apply the discount once it has confirmed that you meet the requirements.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not an award for which you need to apply. It is an automatic fee reduction for anyone who meets the criteria. If you have graduated from UWE Bristol and enrol on a further postgraduate programme that is not excluded, you will receive the 20% discount without having to compete with others. The only grounds for exclusion are choosing an excluded programme or a programme at the same level as your previous degree from UWE.
