Abertay University - The Student Bursary & Scholarship Fund

What you get

You will receive up to £1,750 per year (about 2,040 EUR) from Abertay University in Dundee, which is paid out each academic year. The amount depends on your household income, which is assessed by the Student Loans Company:

• £1,750 per year if the household income is below £17,000
• £1,000 per year, up to £24,000
• £500 per year up to £34,000

Above £34,000 you get nothing. The money reaches your bank account in two payments, at the end of October and the end of February. You can also ask to have it deducted from your tuition or your accommodation costs instead. Part-time students get a smaller amount based on their hours. Repeated years are not funded.

Who can apply

• Where you're from: You are resident in England, Wales or Northern Ireland, and Abertay University charges you the tuition fees applicable to the rest of the United Kingdom.
• Residence: You live in the UK.
• University: You have been offered a place and are enrolling as a full-time Bachelor’s student at Abertay University to study on the Dundee campus from September.
• Study phase: This is your first bachelor’s degree.
• Household income: The Student Loans Company confirms that your household income is below £34,000 per year.
• Field of study: Open to all disciplines.

How to apply

You do not need to complete a separate form. When you apply for a student loan from the Student Loans Company, your household income will be assessed. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you will receive an email from Abertay confirming your loan has been approved, which you can accept online. Apply for your loan before 30 June so that the funds are available before the start of the term.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competition. If you meet the relevant income criteria, are studying full-time in Dundee and your household income is below £34,000,, you will receive the grant automatically. All you need to do is complete the assessment by the Student Loans Company in good time. If you submit your loan application in good time before the summer deadline, your application will be approved.
