About this scholarship
What the AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership gives you
You will be offered a fully-funded PhD place in the humanities. Your tuition fees will be covered, and you will receive an annual living allowance (a regular payment to cover living costs) at the UKRI standard rate. Funding typically covers the duration of a full-time PhD programme, i.e. approximately three to four years. The funding comes from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), which is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). The AHRC awards the scholarships through university consortia, known as ‘Doctoral Training Partnerships’, of which Bath Spa University is a member.
Who can apply
- Level: You are just starting a PhD or are planning to do one. As a rule, you will need a relevant Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification.
- Field of study: Your field of research lies within the humanities, for example in history, languages and linguistics, art and design, or music.
- Where you study: She is undertaking her PhD at Bath Spa University in the United Kingdom as part of an AHRC partnership.
- Grades: You have achieved excellent results at school.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. The full scholarship is intended for students from the United Kingdom; therefore, funding for international applicants may be limited.
How to apply
You should apply via Bath Spa University and include a research proposal for your PhD. The application deadline is 21 February.
How realistic are your chances?
These are competitive, fully-funded PhD scholarships; therefore, a compelling research proposal and outstanding academic achievements are of great importance. Your chances will be improved if your research proposal clearly aligns with the key research areas in the humanities at Bath Spa University. If your topic is a good fit for a supervisor there and your application is well prepared, you have a realistic chance of success. A vague or poorly suited research proposal will not stand out.
