About this scholarship
Benefit
You will receive a cash grant of up to about 1,230 EUR (£1,050) per year for each of the three academic years. This does not need to be repaid and is tax-free. It is awarded in addition to your regular loans from the Student Finance Agency and is paid out once per academic year. Bath Spa University awards this grant to help students from low-income households fund their studies. If you wish, you can choose to receive the grant as a reduction in your tuition fees rather than as a cash payment.
Eligibility
- Level: You are currently studying for your first bachelor’s degree and do not yet hold a university degree or higher qualification.
- Start date: You started your first year of study (or a foundation year at the full tuition fee rate) in September 2025 or later.
- Field of study: All subjects.
- Where you live: You live in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. Students from the EU and other countries are not eligible to apply.
- Income: Your household income is below £27,500 (approximately 32,200 EUR), as confirmed by the student finance office.
- Your loans: You have applied to Student Finance and are receiving a loan to cover the full amount of your tuition fees, or you have already paid your tuition fees. You have no other source of funding apart from Student Finance.
- Attendance: You are actively taking part in your course before the payment deadline.
- Fee and course: Your total tuition fees amount to £9,535.. You are not changing your degree programme or university, you are not starting from scratch, and you are not on a placement year.
How to apply
Once you have completed your enrolment, submit your application via the Blackbullion funding hub. The application must be submitted within eight weeks of the start of the course or the opening of the funding programme, whichever is later. You must resubmit the application each year and continue to meet all the criteria in order to retain your funding.
How realistic are your chances?
This grant is aimed at a specific target group: first-year students at a particular university who live in the United Kingdom and whose household income is below £27,500.. If you clearly meet these criteria and ‘Student Finance’ confirms your income, your chances are good. The amount of funding depends on external funding sources. Therefore, if there are more eligible students than places available, additional criteria may determine who receives funding. It is advisable to apply within the eight-week window.
