University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) - Caribbean and Latin America Scholarship (UWE Bristol)

What you get

You get a 5,000 GBP (about 5,900 EUR) discount on your tuition fees for your first year at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) in the UK. This is a one-off reduction on what you pay the university, not a cash payment. UWE Bristol offers it to students from the Caribbean and Latin America to bring more people from those regions to Bristol.

Who can apply

• Where you are from: You are from a country in the Caribbean or Latin America, such as Brazil, Mexico, El Salvador, Paraguay or Peru.
• Offer from UWE: You already hold an offer for a course at UWE Bristol. This can be conditional (you get the place if you meet set conditions, such as final grades) or unconditional (the place is confirmed).
• Level of study: You apply for an undergraduate or a postgraduate course. Both count.
• Ambassador role: If you win, you agree to promote the university during your studies, for example by helping UWE reach students in your country.

How to apply

Record a short selfie video and send it via WeTransfer to the university. State your name, country and UWE Welcome ID, then answer three questions: why you chose UWE Bristol, what you look forward to most, and how UWE could attract more students from your country. The deadline is 31 May for a September start and 31 October for a January start. You hear back after each deadline.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut narrowly. Only students from the Caribbean and Latin America who already hold an offer from UWE Bristol can apply, so the pool is much smaller than for open scholarships. You send a short video instead of a long dossier, which lowers the effort. If you fit the region, hold an offer and make a clear, personal video, your prospects are good.
