About this scholarship

Cumbria Bursary

As a full-time student, you will receive non-repayable bursary of about 1,150 EUR (£1,000) per year; as a part-time student, you will receive approximately 575 EUR (£500) per year. Full-time students usually receive this grant for the duration of their studies. Part-time students can receive it for up to 5 years. The University of Cumbria in the United Kingdom pays this as direct financial support, and you will never have to repay it.

Who can apply

  • University: You’re studying at the University of Cumbria.
  • Study phase: You are starting your first year of a Bachelor’s degree programme or an integrated foundation year (a foundation year that forms part of the degree programme).
  • Funding status: You are a ‘Home’ student, which means you are eligible for UK student finance.
  • Household income: Your household income is 25,000 GBP per year or less, as determined by your student finance organisation (e.g. Student Finance England).
  • Income-based finance: You have applied for means-tested student finance. Students who have not done so are ineligible.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.

How to apply

No separate application is required. Your eligibility will be assessed automatically when you apply for a means-tested student loan and list the University of Cumbria on your UCAS form. Your household income must have been assessed by your funding body by 2 October (the current deadline is 2 October 2026), so please apply for student finance as early as possible.

How realistic are your chances?

The number of these scholarships is limited, and they are awarded to the applicants with the highest scores on a ranking list; therefore, meeting the income threshold does not guarantee that you will receive a scholarship. If your household income is significantly below 25,000 GBP and you submit your application for student finance early, your chances are good. Submitting your application for student finance late is the main reason why many people miss out on this funding.
