About this scholarship

David Fussey Choral Exhibition Bursary

You will receive about 1,150 EUR per year (£1,000) for up to 3 years, provided you continue to meet the conditions. The University of Greenwich awards this scholarship to students who sing in the university choir. It is named after Dr David Fussey, a former Vice-Chancellor who loved choral singing. Each year, up to five students receive this award. In return, you will take on a leading role in the running of the choir. This includes organising events, managing the mailing list, assigning section leaders for concerts and setting up the equipment for rehearsals.

Who can apply

  • University: You’re studying at the University of Greenwich in the UK.
  • Degree level: Open to Bachelor’s and Master’s students.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Nationality: All nationalities welcome.
  • Financial need: Not required. Your income will not be assessed when the scholarship is awarded.
  • Choir place: You pass the audition and become a member of the University of Greenwich choir.
  • Singing and teamwork: You’re a strong singer and a good team player.
  • Attendance: You will take part in at least 75% sessions. These take place on Monday evenings during the term, from 6:30 to 8:30.

How to apply

Please email the completed application form to the choir director by 6 October 2026, 23:59. Auditions will take place on Monday evening, 12 October. At the audition, you will perform a piece of your choice, take a short vocal test and discuss your musical experience and your motivation.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is highly sought-after. It is awarded exclusively to pupils at Greenwich School who pass the singing audition, and up to five pupils receive it each year. If you are a confident singer who is committed to weekly rehearsals and the additional organisational tasks, your chances are good. The most important thing is to apply by the deadline in October and to prepare your audition piece.
