France Excellence - Entente Cordiale scholarship

You will receive 860 EUR net per month for a period of up to 10 months (from 1 September 2026 to 30 June 2027) to undertake a Master’s degree programme in France. You will also be treated as a French government scholarship holder. This means that your health and personal liability insurance will be paid for directly, your visa fees will be waived, and your tuition fees and the CVEC student contribution at public higher education institutions under the remit of the French Ministry of Higher Education will be covered. Upon your arrival, Campus France (the French agency for international students) will help you find accommodation, although you will be required to pay part of the rent yourself. The scholarship is administered by the French Embassy in London. You cannot combine it with other French government scholarships or international scholarships.

Who can apply

• Nationality: You are a British national. People with dual French-British nationality are not eligible to apply.
• Where you study: You are applying to a French university or a Grande École (a selective French higher education institution).
• Level: You are studying for a Master’s degree (Master’s 1 or Master’s 2). Master’s programmes undertaken as part of vocational training or further education are not taken into account.
• Field of study: Your project falls within one of the following four thematic areas: space (Earth observation), the energy transition (hydrogen), artificial intelligence (and ethics), or the humanities and social sciences relating to these fields.
• Grades: You have an outstanding academic and professional track record.
• Bonus: It is helpful if you have already been in touch with the course leaders at your French institution.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the French Embassy in London (Campus France UK). The application period begins on 15 January 2026 and ends on 28. February 2026 at 18:00 GMT, with no exceptions. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview in March or April 2026. The selected students will be notified individually around mid-April.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is very narrowly defined: only British nationals studying for a Master’s degree in France in one of four specific subject areas are eligible, meaning that the group of eligible applicants is small. If you meet these subject requirements and can demonstrate good grades as well as a clear, well-thought-out study plan, your prospects are good. A good command of French, confirmed admission to your university and early contact with your academic supervisors will help you stand out from other applicants during the interview.
