Government of France- Embassy of France in Albania - French Government Scholarships (master and doctorate)

What you get

You will receive a monthly scholarship of about 900 EUR from the French government to study for a Master’s or PhD at a university in France. The French Embassy in Albania awards the scholarship through its Department of Culture and Cooperation (SCAC). For a Master’s programme (the second year, known as the ‘Master 2’), the scholarship covers approximately 9 months. For a PhD programme run in partnership with a French university, it covers up to 15 months in France, spread over three academic years.

Who can apply

• Nationality: You are Albanian.
• Where you study: You are studying in France; the scholarship does not cover studies in Albania.
• Level: You are starting a Master’s degree (primarily a Master’s 2) or a PhD programme jointly supervised by a French and an Albanian institution.
• Field of study: Any subject.
• Academic record: You have good grades and a clear study plan.
• French: You can provide evidence of your level of French.

How to apply

Please submit your application to the Cooperation Service (SCAC) at the French Embassy in Tirana. The deadline for applications is 30 April. The selection process will take into account your grades, the quality of your study plan and your motivation.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is very narrowly defined: only Albanian students who wish to go to France to undertake a Master’s degree or a joint PhD programme are eligible to apply, so the pool of eligible candidates is small. If you can demonstrate good grades, a coherent study plan and proof of your French language skills, your chances are good. A clear, well-structured application, submitted before the deadline in April, counts for a great deal here.
