About this scholarship
MER Mobility Grant
You will receive 2,800 EUR per semester (14 weeks) each year to cover the compulsory travel and study placements included in the MER Master’s programme. This supports both the teaching and research components of the programme. The funding covers the full two years, and you must submit a new application for each year. The funding comes from the MER Consortium, the network of universities running the MER2030 Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Programme in ‘Marine Environment’. This is a two-year Master’s programme in marine sciences, offered at partner universities in Spain, the UK, France, Belgium and Portugal.
Who can apply
- Programme: You have been admitted to the MER’s MSc programme in ‘Marine Environment’.
- Grades: Your results in previous studies meet the consortium’s minimum standard.
- No double funding: You will not receive an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, a national scholarship or any other incompatible funding.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. Should funding become limited, priority will be given to students from the consortium’s partner and associated countries.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted via the MER online application portal under the ‘Grants and Fellowships’ section. This forms part of your Master’s application and is not a separate form. Students in the 1 cohort must apply by 15 July of the year prior to the start of their studies. Students in the 2 cohort must apply by 15 July of their first year of study. Please apply early, as places are limited.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is very selective. It is open only to students who have already been admitted to a specific Master’s programme and who are not receiving funding through Erasmus Mundus, so the pool of applicants is small. If you clearly meet these criteria and have very good grades, your chances are good. Students from a partner or associated country of the consortium have an additional advantage. As places and funding are limited, you should apply as early as possible.
