About this scholarship
Gary Bond Memorial Award
You will receive a one-off grant of about 700 EUR (£600) to help cover your tuition fees. This grant is awarded each year to a drama student at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, which is part of the University of London. The prize honours Gary Bond, a British film, television and theatre actor who trained at the Central and was renowned for his work in musical theatre.
Who can apply
- Course: You are studying one of the BA (Hons) degree programmes in Acting at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama: Acting, Acting (CDT) or Acting (Musical Theatre).
- Study year: You are in your second or third year of study.
- Financial need: You are experiencing financial difficulties and can provide evidence of this.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, regardless of whether you are a domestic, EU or international student.
How to apply
You do not apply of your own accord. The university invites eligible students to apply during the spring semester. Your application must be accompanied by evidence of your financial hardship.
How realistic are your chances?
Only one scholarship is awarded each year, exclusively to drama students at this particular university who are in their second or third year of study and can demonstrate financial hardship. The pool of eligible candidates is therefore small, but as there is only one place available, competition is fierce. If you clearly meet these criteria and can provide strong evidence of your financial hardship, what matters most is a convincing and honest account of your situation.
