Benefit

You will receive a grant of one-off grant of about 230 to 580 EUR (GBP 200 to 500), which averages around 350 euros, to help fund your studies. The money can be used for tuition fees, books, travel costs, equipment or materials. This is a one-off grant, not a monthly payment, and you may apply again in future rounds. The Trust is a Scottish charity founded in 1663 that supports people in the County of Stirling. It supports a wide range of areas: undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, apprenticeships and technical training, educational trips, adult education courses, as well as music, theatre and the visual arts.

Eligibility

• Where you are from: You were born in the county of Stirling or have lived there for at least 5 consecutive years (either currently or in the past). This includes Stirling, Falkirk, Kilsyth, Grangemouth, Denny/Bonnybridge and Polmont, but does not include Dunblane, Callander or Bo’ness.
• Level of study: You may be an undergraduate or postgraduate student, a trainee, an adult learner or a school pupil on a school trip.
• Field of study: Any subject.
• University: Any higher education institution. The funding is for you personally, not for the institution.
• Financial need: You can demonstrate that you need the money based on your household income and your personal circumstances.
• Record: The Trust also takes into account your past performance and achievements, as well as your future potential.

How to apply

Download the application form from the Foundation’s website or request it from the secretariat, and then return it by post or email. The Foundation Board makes its decisions on the first Wednesday in June, September, December and March. Please submit your form at least three weeks before the meeting you are aiming for. Incomplete forms will be returned.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is tied to a specific location: you must have been born in Stirling County or have lived there, which means the pool of applicants remains small. If you can demonstrate this connection to the region and show that you have a genuine financial need, your chances are quite good. The Trust’s funds are limited and approval is not guaranteed; therefore, please submit a clear and complete application well in advance of the decision date.
