UCL DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY STUDIES - STS Aristotle studentships

What you get

The scholarship covers your full UK tuition fees for a Master’s programme at the Department of Science and Technology Studies (STS) at University College London. The funds will be paid directly to UCL, so your tuition fees for the year will be covered. If you are an international student paying the higher international tuition fee, the scholarship will only cover the amount of the UK tuition fees, and you will need to pay the difference yourself. UCL usually awards one such scholarship per year. There is no allowance for living costs and no assistance with finding accommodation.

Who can apply

• Offer needed first: You already have a place on a lecture-based STS postgraduate programme. You cannot apply until you have been offered a place.
• Programmes covered: All degree programmes, diplomas and certificates offered by the STS, including the MSc in the History and Philosophy of Science, Science, Technology and Society, and Science Communication.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, whether from the UK or abroad.
• Financial need: You need financial support to fund your studies.
• Academic strength: You have good grades and great academic potential.

How to apply

Once you have received an offer, please complete the separate application form for the Aristotle Scholarship and submit it to the STS MSc Admissions Team by 30 July. Only successful applicants will be notified by the end of August.

How realistic are your chances?

The criteria for awarding this scholarship are very strict: you must already have received an STS offer from UCL, and as a rule, only one scholarship is awarded per year. This means that the pool of eligible applicants is small, but competition is fierce when there is only one place available. If you clearly meet the academic requirements and can demonstrate a genuine financial need, a compelling, well-reasoned application is what will set you apart from the rest.
