Vikram Reddy Memorial Scholarship

You will receive 1,150 EUR (GBP 1,000) in total for an academic year of nine months, from September to June. You may use the scholarship either as a contribution towards your living costs or to partially cover your tuition fees. The University of Aberdeen awards this scholarship in memory of Vikram Reddy, a graduate of the University’s law programme, to support aspiring lawyers in their training for legal practice in Scotland.

Who can apply

• Programme: You have been offered a place on the ‘Diploma in Professional Legal Practice’ (DPLP) programme at the University of Aberdeen, which begins in September 2026. The DPLP is a full-time, on-campus programme that bridges the gap between a law degree and admission as a solicitor in Scotland.
• Residence: You are permanently resident in the United Kingdom.
• Fee status: The university classifies you as a ‘Home’ or ‘Rest of the UK’ fee-payer. International fee-payers are not eligible to apply.
• Grades: You submit a transcript, and your academic performance is assessed.
• Financial need: You must provide evidence in a personal statement that you require financial support.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the University of Aberdeen’s scholarship portal by 9 August 2026. Firstly, you will need to be admitted to the DPLP programme itself. The application period for the DPLP programme begins on 20 March 2026 and ends on 8 May 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

Only one scholarship is awarded each year, and the criteria are strict. You must already have been admitted to the DPLP programme in Aberdeen, be resident in the UK, pay the tuition fees applicable to ‘Home’ or ‘Rest of UK’ students, and demonstrate financial need. Whilst this means the pool of eligible candidates is small, competition is nevertheless fierce as only a single scholarship is awarded. If you clearly meet these conditions and can demonstrate genuine financial need, your chances are good.
