About this grant / loan

What study.work.support gives you

You earn 800 EUR gross per month for 10 hours of work a week at a Salzburg IT company, while you study for an IT bachelor's degree at FH Salzburg. The partner company also pays your tuition fees and adds a housing allowance. You keep the same placement for the length of your studies. Scaled up to a 40-hour week, the pay works out at roughly 3,500 EUR, a normal entry-level IT salary. The programme is run by FH Salzburg, which connects you with partner firms such as Red Bull, Salzburg AG, COPA-DATA and Commend. You work in areas like software development, network technology, IT security, databases or IT project management. Your work hours can be reduced during exam-heavy phases.

Who can apply

  • Study place: You have an admission offer for one of two full-time bachelor's programmes at FH Salzburg: Information Technology & System Management (BSc) or Business Informatics & Digital Transformation (BSc). Both run 6 semesters.
  • IT background: You bring solid IT knowledge, for example a diploma from an HTL (Austrian technical secondary school), an IT-focused HAK (Austrian business school), or practical IT experience.
  • Study and work together: You are ready to handle a degree and a part-time job at the same time.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Once you have an admission offer for one of the two bachelor's programmes, you apply for study.work.support through the online form. You pick up to two preferred companies and upload your CV, a motivation letter for each company, and your school-leaving certificates. The companies review your documents and contact you directly. You then sign a normal employment contract with the firm you join.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a tightly targeted offer: only students of two specific IT degrees at one university in Salzburg can take part, and you need a real IT background to be competitive. The eligible pool is therefore small. Many well-known firms take part and want to recruit future staff this way, so if you clearly fit the IT profile and show it in your application, your prospects are good.
