Michel Delalande Award

You will receive a one-off prize of 2,000 EUR from the Académie nationale de Pharmacie (French National Academy of Pharmacy). This prize is awarded to an established researcher or a research team in recognition of original scientific work in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. The Academy has a particular interest in three areas: pharmacodynamics (how medicines affect the body), therapeutic chemistry and research into natural chemical substances. If there are several prize winners, the jury will decide how the prize money is to be divided. The prize will be presented during the Academy’s annual ceremonial meeting.

Who can apply

• Career stage: You are an established researcher with a number of publications to your name. Students and those currently completing their PhDs are not eligible.
• Field: Your field of expertise is in the pharmaceutical sciences, ideally in pharmacodynamics, medicinal chemistry or research into natural chemical substances.
• Nationality: You are a citizen of an EU country.
• Profession: Pharmacists are preferred, but you do not need to be a pharmacist.
• Language: Your submitted work is written in French or English.
• Academy membership: Members of the Academy are ineligible for the prize.

How to apply

Applications should be submitted by email to the Academy’s secretariat. The application deadline is 4 September. In addition to the usual documents (a signed application letter, a full CV including your list of publications, and a digital copy of your thesis), you must also submit a summary of your research work comprising between 5 and 10 pages. You may only apply for one of the Academy’s prizes per year.

How realistic are your chances?

This prize recognises outstanding publications, not the number of applicants. The pool of eligible candidates is small: you need a proven track record in a narrowly defined field of pharmacy. If your work clearly falls within one of the specified fields and you can demonstrate genuine scientific results, your chances are good.
