About this scholarship
Benefit
You receive a one-off 1,500 EUR for the first year of a full-time taught master's programme at the University of Galway in Ireland. It usually comes as a reduction of your tuition fees. In some cases it is paid out as a cheque instead, for example if you also hold a SUSI grant (Irish state student finance). The award is tied to the specific programme you are offered. It covers only that first year, cannot be moved to another programme, and cannot be postponed to a later start.
Eligibility
- Degree level: You are starting Year 1 of a full-time taught master's at the University of Galway. You cannot apply if you are repeating the year.
- Grades: You achieved a first class honours (or equivalent) in a Level 8 bachelor's degree, meaning a standard honours bachelor's.
- Offer first: You have already received and accepted a place on the master's programme before you apply.
- Nationality: Open to EU students. Non-EU students apply through the scholarship schemes run by the International Office instead.
- Field of study: Open to all taught master's subjects.
Everyone who meets these criteria gets the scholarship. There is no competitive ranking and no fixed number of places.
How to apply
Fill in the separate online scholarship application form and upload certified copies of your final bachelor's transcript as proof of your result, through your postgraduate application portal. The deadline is 30 September. Late applications are not considered. The Admissions Office checks eligibility over the summer and then tells you the outcome.
