Sacyr Innovation Awards

The winning idea will receive a cash prize of around 6,000 EUR. You will also have the chance to implement a real-life pilot project at Sacyr, a Spanish infrastructure group operating in over 20 countries. The winners will work closely with Sacyr’s experts, develop their solution in a real-world operational environment and present it to the company’s senior management at the Sacyr Innovation Summit. The prize is awarded by the Fundación Sacyr as part of its open innovation programme, ‘Sacyr iChallenges’. We are looking for solutions to specific problems, for example in the areas of road and infrastructure safety, water and recycling, sustainable construction and the reduction of CO₂ emissions.

Who can apply

• Who this is for: Start-ups, scale-ups, established companies and technology centres – not individual students. To take part, you will need to be part of an organisation and have a technical solution.
• Your idea: Your proposal addresses one of the specific challenges that Sacyr faces in every round in fields such as engineering, the natural sciences or infrastructure technology.
• Where you are based: Every country. Previous winners and finalists have included participants from Spain, the UK, Canada, Switzerland, Latvia, Portugal and other countries.
• Nationality: No restriction.

How to apply

Submit your solution via Sacyr’s Open Innovation Portal. Each round has its own themes and deadlines. You should therefore check the portal for the latest dates before applying. A jury will select the winner, as well as the runners-up in second and third place, who will be announced at the Innovation Summit.

How realistic are your chances?

This is an internationally advertised competition. In recent rounds, around 200 entries were received from more than 30 countries, with only a handful of places available. For each edition, only one first prize and a few second prizes are awarded. A sophisticated, ready-to-use solution that is precisely tailored to the challenge set by Sacyr stands out in particular. If your technology fits the announced topic exactly, you have a genuine chance of success. A proposal that is too broad or unrelated to the topic, on the other hand, does not.
