About this scholarship

What the IPFE grant covers

You will receive a partial scholarship covering 15% to 100% of your tuition costs. The exact amount depends on your grades, your professional experience and your personal circumstances. It is awarded by the Instituto Peruano de Fomento Educativo (IPFE), a Peruvian non-profit organisation that supports people in their studies through more than 35 partner universities and postgraduate programmes. You can use it for undergraduate programmes, technical training courses or postgraduate programmes, including diploma programmes, Master’s programmes and MBAs, whether these are delivered in person, online or via a blended-learning format. In return, each scholarship holder donates 5% of the scholarship amount (in soles) to the IPFE’s social fund, which uses the money to enable students from low-income backgrounds to study.

Who can apply

  • Where you work: You work for a company that collaborates with IPFE (for example, Ferreycorp, Backus, BCP or Cerro Verde), or you are an immediate family member of someone who works there.
  • Nationality: You are a Peruvian national and hold a valid national identity card (DNI).
  • Field of study: Any topic is fine.
  • Level: Bachelor’s, university of applied sciences and Master’s degree programmes are all eligible.
  • Grades: During your degree, you must maintain a minimum grade point average. If your average falls below this, you will lose your financial support.
  • Staying employed: You will remain employed by the partner company throughout your studies. The programme is designed to help ensure that staff remain with these companies.
  • Family exceptions: At EPG Pacífico, family members are not eligible for these scholarships. At UPC, family members simply receive a direct discount.

How to apply

IPFE publishes job vacancies via the HR departments of its partner organisations, so you will first hear about them internally from your employer. You register on the IPFE application page, after which an IPFE analyst will contact you. You will then submit a certificate of enrolment from your chosen partner university along with your application documents, and take part in an interview to assess your soft skills.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a closed, employer-specific programme and not an open scholarship. You can only apply if you, or a close relative, are employed by one of IPFE’s partner companies. This ensures that the pool of applicants remains small and clearly defined. If you belong to this group, meet the academic requirements and apply during your company’s internal recruitment process, your chances are good. Please note, however, that the amount of the scholarship will still depend on your profile.
