About this scholarship

What the ISEP exchange at TU Graz gives you

You can study for one or two semesters at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) in Austria – the country’s oldest technical university – without paying tuition fees there. You will continue to pay the fees at your home university and transfer to TU Graz for this period. The package includes accommodation and a monthly meal allowance of around 500 EUR for the campus canteens. Accommodation is in a furnished shared flat near the campus, with a kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, bicycle storage and a cleaning service every two weeks. Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) is particularly strong in the fields of architecture, computer science, engineering, natural sciences and mathematics. Many courses are taught in English, with the remainder in German.

If you are studying at a US university and taking French or German courses in Austria, you can also apply for the ISEP Annette Kade Language Fund. This is a separate grant of between approximately 450 and 1,400 EUR (500 to 1,500 USD).

Who can apply

  • Home university: You are currently enrolled at a university that is part of the ISEP exchange network.
  • Where you go: You are studying at Graz University of Technology in Graz, Austria, as part of an exchange programme.
  • Field of study: Open to all degree programmes offered by Graz University of Technology. Students studying STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) are best suited.
  • Language: You can take courses in English or German.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided their home university is part of the ISEP network.

How to apply

First, contact the ISEP coordinator at your home university, who will register you for the ISEP placement process. Once you have been placed at Graz University of Technology, complete the online application form provided by Graz University of Technology. The application deadline is 15 April for the winter semester or the full academic year, and 15 October for the summer semester.

How realistic are your chances?

Your chances depend mainly on whether your home university is an ISEP member and whether the placement is successful, as ISEP matches incoming and outgoing students. If you are enrolled at a member university and apply via your coordinator by the deadline, securing a place at Graz University of Technology is certainly a realistic prospect. Apply early, as places and accommodation are snapped up quickly.
