Province of Liège Consular Body Award

For an outstanding Master’s thesis with an international focus, you will receive a one-off cash prize of 5,000 EUR. This is a prize for a completed thesis and not a monthly scholarship. The funds are provided by the Consular Corps of the Province of Liège (the group of consuls representing around 45 countries in the region) in collaboration with the University of Liège. The aim is to encourage young graduates to pursue a career in diplomacy or research in the field of international relations. The prize will be presented during a ceremony at the university.

Who can apply

• Your thesis: You are submitting a Master’s thesis on the subject of international relations.
• University: You have written your final thesis at the University of Liège or as part of an exchange programme between Liège and another university.
• Timing: You defended the thesis in one of the two previous academic years. For the 2026-2027 round that means 2024-2025 or 2025-2026.
• Grade: The academic jury has given your final dissertation a positive assessment.
• Not published: Your dissertation has not yet been published.
• No earlier prize: This thesis has not yet won any awards.
• Field of study: Open to all faculties.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Language: If the thesis is not written in French, please enclose a full French translation.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the online form provided by the University of Liège Foundation. You must include a personal statement, a letter of recommendation from your supervisor, your CV, an abstract of no more than 5 pages, and your full thesis. The application deadline for the 2026–2027 round is 31 January 2027. A jury makes the decision each year. If fewer than 3 theses are submitted, or if none of them meet the required standard, the prize will not be awarded.
