UAE student loan at the ULB

You get an interest-free loan of up to 1,500 EUR per academic year if money problems are getting in the way of your studies at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). The loan is index-linked. You repay it adjusted for inflation once you are working, but you pay no interest. You can use the money for course materials, books, tuition fees and living costs in Brussels. It also covers study periods abroad through Erasmus or Socrates. Over your whole student career you can normally take out at most two of these loans. In some cases the committee in charge can turn a loan into a grant you do not repay. The money comes from the UAE, the association of former ULB students, funded by members' donations and by repayments from earlier borrowers.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB).
• Financial need: Financial difficulties are a real obstacle to continuing one’s studies.
• Field of study: All subjects are open.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

You do not apply to the UAE directly. Ask for the application form at the ULB Student Social Service (Service Social Etudiants) on the Solbosch campus, which handles the applications.
