About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive up to 10,000 DKK (about 1,340 EUR) for a study trip abroad, which is awarded for one year at a time. You can use the money to fund further training at a foreign institution in the fields of commerce, skilled trades or industry – for example, a course or work placement that builds on your previous work experience. The grant is tax-free as long as you use it for this purpose. Otherwise, you will have to repay it. It comes from the ‘Jørgen Esmers Mindelegat’, a Danish endowment fund in Copenhagen which has been awarding grants since 1968.

Who can apply

  • What you do abroad: You are enrolled on, or are about to start, an additional study placement abroad in the fields of commerce, the skilled trades or industry as part of a study trip.
  • Where you live: You have a Danish address. Applications with a foreign address will be rejected.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they live in Denmark.
  • Financial situation: You must declare your income, your assets, your housing costs and any state education grants (SU) or other financial support you receive. The committee will assess the extent to which you need the money.
  • References: Two people you know well must support your application. They must not be relatives or your partner.

How to apply

Download the form for Group C from the fund’s website, complete it by hand and post it to Jørgen Esmers Mindelegat in Copenhagen. Applications sent by email will not be accepted. For round 2027, you can apply from 8 February up to and including 9 April 2027. The board’s decision is expected by the end of July 2027.
