What you get

You will receive financial support or a loan from a private Danish family foundation, the family foundation of the merchant Gert Lassen and his wife Margrethe Lassen (Danish: ‘Grosserer Gert Lassen og hustru Margrethe Lassens Familiefond’). The amount is not fixed. The board decides on a case-by-case basis, depending on your circumstances, how much you will receive and in what form. In total, the foundation pays out around 100,000 DKK (approximately 13,400 EUR) annually to all the people it supports; it is therefore not a fixed amount per person. You may use the money for training, studying, travelling, setting up a home, starting a business or buying a flat.

Who can apply

• Family link: You are a descendant of the founders, Margrethe and Gert Lassen, or are married to such a descendant. As this is a family foundation, this connection is the most important requirement.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• University: You can study anywhere.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Who is excluded: The founders and other donors are not entitled to any support. The same applies to spouses or children who live with them and are taxed jointly with them.
• No guaranteed award: No one is automatically entitled to support. The Executive Board alone decides who receives funding.

How to apply

You apply through an online form on the Legatbogen (Grant Compass) platform. For descendants, the application window runs from 29 October 2026 to the deadline on 14 November. You attach a budget, your most recent tax assessment (årsopgørelse) and your preliminary tax statement (forskudsopgørelse). You also state whether you apply because of a special need or hardship, or as a free grant with no special reason.
