About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a one-off grant of 150 EUR towards the fees for a language course at the Language Service (Servicio de Idiomas) of the University of La Laguna in Tenerife. The grant covers part of the course fees; you are responsible for the remainder. For the first semester of 2025/2026, there are 150 grants available, funded from a pot of 22,500 EUR provided by the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife (the island’s local government). You can choose from a wide range of languages, including German, English, Italian, French, Portuguese, Greek, Russian, Catalan, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Spanish as a foreign language or sign language.

Who can apply

  • Where you live: You have been officially registered (empadronamiento) with a local council on Tenerife for at least one year prior to the deadline.
  • Course: You are enrolled on a first-semester language course with the ULL Language Service, which lasts at least 30 hours, and you have already paid the fee in full.
  • Who this is for: Current students at the University of La Laguna or its graduates who are unemployed and looking for work.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they meet the residence requirements for Tenerife.

How to apply

Applications must be made online via the Fundación General ULL’s electronic portal by submitting the application form and the required documents. The application deadline for the first semester of 2025/2026 is 15 January 2026. A selection panel will assess the applications and publish the final decision by 30 April 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

The pool of applicants is deliberately kept small: you must live in Tenerife and already be enrolled on a language course at the ULL and have paid the fees. As 150 scholarships are available, your chances are good if you meet these requirements. When compiling the ranking list, particular consideration is given to financial need, your status as a current student and whether you are unemployed; therefore, a well-substantiated explanation in these areas will improve your position on the list.
