Communication traineeship with the Junta de Castilla y León

You will receive 1,000 EUR per month for up to 12 months. This is a paid placement in the field of institutional communications with the Regional Government of Castile and León in Spain, where you will work under the guidance of a mentor. There are 11 places across the region: one each in Ávila, Burgos, León, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria and Zamora, and three in Valladolid. When applying, please indicate your preferred provinces. The placement always ends no later than 31 December of the funding year.

Who can apply

• Degree: You must hold a university degree in journalism or audiovisual communication. This means an official Spanish qualification (Licenciado or Grado) in Periodismo and/or Comunicación Audiovisual, obtained before the application deadline.
• Link to the region: You have studied at a university in Castile and León or are officially registered there (empadronamiento) at the time of publication of the call for applications.
• Age: By the closing date for applications, you must be at least 18.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• No paid job in the field: You do not hold a paid communication job when the deadline passes.
• Not a repeat holder: You have not held this same traineeship before. If you did hold it and completed the full term without dropping out early, you can still apply.

How to apply

You apply online via the regional government’s electronic portal (Sede Electrónica). You must attach your degree certificate, a Europass CV and a list of your achievements. The application deadline for the 2026 round is 10 October. You may be invited to sit a test or attend an interview. Places will be allocated based on a comparison of applicants’ practical experience and additional training.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is granted on a highly selective basis. Applicants must hold a specific degree in journalism or audiovisual communication, as well as have a genuine connection to Castile and León, which keeps the pool of applicants small. With 11 places available, a well-suited candidate who can demonstrate relevant work experience and postgraduate study has a strong chance of success. Practical experience sets applicants apart from the rest, so a clear, well-documented track record of achievement is key.
