CEPC scholarship for the Master's in Constitutional Law

You will receive up to 13,340 EUR for completing the one-year official Master’s degree programme in Constitutional Law (Máster Universitario en Derecho Constitucional, 60 ECTS) in Madrid, which is taught in Spanish. The grant covers part of your tuition fees (up to 1,520 EUR), health and accident insurance, up to 1,860 EUR to help you settle in, up to 8,100 EUR towards living costs, and up to 1,500 EUR for travel expenses. The grant covers the academic year from October to June. You will receive it in three instalments in line with your academic progress and are not required to pay Spanish income tax on it. The scholarship is awarded by the Centro de Estudios Políticos y Constitucionales (CEPC), a Spanish government agency, in collaboration with the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo. Up to 13 scholarships are awarded annually across three categories.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are studying for a Master’s degree in Constitutional Law at the CEPC in Madrid.
• Degree: You must hold a Bachelor’s or Licentiate degree that qualifies you for admission to a Spanish Master’s programme. If you are in your final year of study, you may still apply, but you must complete your degree in order to receive the award.
• Nationality: You are from Latin America or the Caribbean, or from a country within the European Higher Education Area (which also includes the EU). Depending on your category, one of the three funding routes will apply to you.
• Age: On 1 October 2026, you will be no older than 30.
• No doctorate: You do not yet hold a doctorate in law.
• Spanish: You speak and write Spanish well. If it is not your mother tongue, you have reached level C1.
• Pre-registration: You have pre-registered for the Master’s programme via the UIMP online portal.

How to apply

Please submit your application to the CEPC by 5 July. Please enclose two letters of reference, a personal statement and your academic transcript. A selection panel will assess each applicant on the basis of a total score of 100 points: up to 50 points for your grade point average, up to 25 points for other academic achievements, and up to 25 points for your profile and motivation. You may also be invited to an interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is granted on a highly selective basis. Applicants must have a score below 30, speak Spanish fluently and be enrolled on a specific Master’s programme in Madrid, which means the pool of applicants is limited. The selection process is highly competitive and merit-based, with half of the total marks coming from your academic results. Good academic performance and a compelling personal statement are crucial. If you fit the profile and have good grades, your chances are good.
