About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a one-off grant of 300 EUR towards sports equipment if you have taken part in competitions on behalf of the University of Málaga during the academic year. The University’s Vice-Rectorate for Students and Sport pays this grant in recognition of students who have represented the University in competitions. The University has a total of 12,000 EUR available. If the total value of eligible applications exceeds this amount, each grant will be reduced proportionally. Should any funds remain, you may receive up to an additional 100 EUR.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are enrolled on an official Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD programme at the University of Málaga.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Nationality: Applicants of any nationality may apply. They must be registered and resident in Spain.
  • Financial need: You are already receiving a means-tested grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education (under the general call for applications or the social cohesion grant for a bachelor’s or master’s degree programme). Your family income must fall within the lowest income bracket for this call for applications.
  • Sporting record: You have represented the university at the Andalusian, Spanish or international university championships, or you are recognised as a DUMAN (the university’s designation for its elite athletes).
  • Conduct: You have received a positive reference from the Vice-Chancellor for Sport, confirming that you have fulfilled your obligations, such as attending training sessions and selection trials, and returning any equipment you have borrowed.

How to apply

Apply online through the university's student academic portal. State the sport and competition in which you represented the university. Applications close on 17 July at 14:00. A selection committee reviews the applications and the Rector makes the final decision.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is narrowly targeted. You must study at the University of Málaga, already hold a low-income ministerial grant, and have actually competed for the university. That keeps the eligible group small. If you clearly meet all three conditions, your prospects are good, since the budget covers many awards and payouts drop only if applications exceed 12,000 EUR in total.
