European University Miguel de Cervantes/Santander Universities - Sporting Excellence Scholarship

What you get

You will receive a one-off payment of 1,000 EUR for one academic year. The scholarship helps elite athletes to continue training and take part in competitions whilst studying. For the year 2026–27, up to 9 scholarships will be awarded. Please note: The total amount of your scholarships and grants must never exceed the total amount of your tuition fees and enrolment fees. The scholarship is funded by the Fundación Universidad Europea Miguel de Cervantes (UEMC) in partnership with Banco Santander.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled on an official bachelor’s degree programme (Grado) at the UEMC in Valladolid, Spain.
• Athlete status: You are officially recognised in Spain as a top-level athlete or elite athlete (DAN or DAR status).
• Grades: Last school year, you achieved an average of at least 6 out of 10.
• Sporting record: You submit the standard form for your sporting CV (Curriculum Deportivo Normalizado).
• First time: You have not yet received this scholarship.
• Field of study: Any topic is fine.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the Santander Open Academy portal, and your sporting CV must be submitted via a separate form. The application deadline for 2026-27 is 7 October 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is very narrowly defined. You must be studying at a specific Spanish university and hold official elite athlete status, so the pool of eligible applicants is small. As only around 9 scholarships are awarded each year, places are limited. However, if you clearly meet the requirements regarding sport and academic performance and apply before the deadline, your chances are good.
