About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a scholarship that covers all or part of the tuition fees for a Bachelor’s degree programme at IE University in Spain. IE University has campuses in Segovia and Madrid. The scholarship is valid for one year and covers tuition fees only; it does not cover living costs. It is the result of a partnership between the IE Foundation and the United World Colleges (UWC), a network of international schools. Two students are awarded this scholarship each year.

Who can apply

  • School background: You are about to graduate or have just graduated from one of the 18 UWC schools worldwide and will be awarded the International Baccalaureate Diploma.
  • Degree: You are starting a Bachelor’s degree at IE University. All fields are empty.
  • Nationality: Students from all UWC delegations worldwide are eligible to apply.
  • Grades: You have an excellent academic record.
  • Fit: You would like to build an international career and align yourself with IE University’s focus on innovation, entrepreneurship and the humanities.

How to apply

You do not apply directly to IE University. You should contact the careers adviser at your UWC school, who will handle the nomination. Apply by 30 March. The Spanish UWC Committee will draw up a shortlist. A committee comprising representatives from UWC and IE University will then select the two scholarship recipients.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is granted on a highly selective basis. Only pupils from the 18 UWC schools are eligible to apply, and only two scholarships are awarded each year. The pool of eligible candidates is small, but so too is the number of places available, meaning that competition amongst high-achieving UWC graduates is very fierce. If you have an outstanding academic record and clearly share the values of IE University, you should involve your adviser at an early stage to ensure you are shortlisted.
