What the Loyola Economic-Educational Scholarship gives you

At Loyola University Andalusia (Seville, Spain), a private Jesuit university, you will receive a reduction on your tuition fees. This applies for one academic year at a time. There is no fixed amount. The university calculates the amount of financial support based on your family’s income and may cover either a portion of your monthly fees or up to 100 per cent of them. The support takes two forms. Firstly, in the form of a grant (beca), which you never have to repay and which is awarded for the first few years of your studies. Secondly, in the form of an interest-free honour loan (a loan that you repay without interest) for the later years, which is repaid in 20 instalments starting from the year after you graduate. The money comes from the university’s own funds. The aim is to ensure that no admitted student has to drop out of their studies for financial reasons. This funding does not reduce the one-off enrolment fee.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You have been admitted to or are already enrolled at Loyola University Andalusia.
• Level: Open to Bachelor’s (Grado), Master’s and PhD students, as well as students on the University’s church-related degree programmes.
• Field of study: Every subject offered by the university.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. If you live outside Spain, a different application period applies (see below).
• Financial need: Your family’s per capita income is not sufficient to cover the fees in full.
• Grades: First of all, your academic performance is assessed. Good grades improve your chances even before your financial situation is taken into account.

How to apply

Applications are made via the online form on the university’s website. First-year students who are already living in Spain should apply between 10 April and 31 July. First-year students living abroad must apply from 4 March to 31 July. Students wishing to renew their scholarship must apply from 1 to 31 July. A scholarship committee makes decisions within the framework of the respective annual budget. You will receive a response by email within 10 to 15 working days of submitting your complete application.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is tied to a specific university and requires both good grades and proven financial need. The pool of applicants is therefore limited to students who have already chosen Loyola University and can demonstrate a modest household income. If you meet both requirements, your chances are good, as the university is keen to ensure that admitted students actually commence their studies. The number of scholarships is limited by the annual budget, so it is advisable to apply early within the application period.
