MOU Student Mobility Programme

You are studying for a 2 to 12 months at a partner university outside Europe and do not pay any tuition fees there. In addition to being exempt from tuition fees, you can apply for the Beca Santander NO Erasmus, a one-off grant of 1,500 EUR. You must apply for this grant separately and may combine it with other public or private funding that does not come from EU sources. Students with a disability or special needs may apply for additional funding. As there is no basic monthly grant as with Erasmus+, the Santander grant represents the most significant form of financial support. The programme is run and funded by the University of Rovira i Virgili (URV) in Tarragona, Spain, for its own students who wish to travel to a country not covered by the Erasmus+ programme.

Who can apply

• Your university: You are enrolled at Rovira i Virgili University in Tarragona.
• Level: Open to Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Where you go: You will be travelling to a country outside the Erasmus+ area with which the URV has signed a partnership agreement (MOU, a cooperation agreement between the two universities). The specific objectives are published each year alongside the call for applications.
• Study progress: Your faculty determines how far you need to have progressed in your degree programme. For most degree programmes, you must first have successfully completed a certain number of credit points (for example, 54 or 60) or the entire first year of your degree before you can take part in the study abroad programme.
• Language: Several departments (such as Economics, Law, Tourism and History) require a language certificate or a placement test. The History and Art History departments expect students to have at least level B1 in the target language.

How to apply

Applications for the academic year 2026/27 are made via the URV’s mobility portal between 2 and 11 December 2025. You should list up to seven destination locations in order of preference. Selection is based on a points system taking into account your application documents and grades, without an interview. The URV will publish the provisional list of admitted students on 18 December 2025 and the final placement decision on 20 February 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This programme is open exclusively to students at the URV, so the pool of applicants is limited to your own university. The number of places available depends on how many partner places are available this year for your department and your destination country. Therefore, if you list several options in order of preference, you will improve your chances. Provided you meet your department’s requirements regarding credits and language proficiency, and apply within the application period in December, your prospects are good.
