What the Barcelona Scholarship gives you

You will receive 4,500 EUR towards the tuition fees for the Master’s programme in ‘Political and Corporate Communication’ (MCPC) at the University of Navarra (Pamplona, Spain). The programme lasts 10 months on a full-time basis (60 ECTS). In addition, upon completion of the Master’s programme, you will undertake a 3-month paid internship at the IDEOGRAMA agency in Barcelona, which is headed by the founder of the scholarship, communications consultant Antoni Gutiérrez-Rubí. Two scholarships are awarded each year: one is reserved for students from Latin America, whilst the other is open to all. The scholarship covers tuition fees only. You may combine it with other sources of funding, provided that the total amount does not exceed the tuition fees; however, it cannot be combined with any discounts offered by the University of Navarra.

Who can apply

• Programme: You are applying for the Master’s degree programme in ‘Political and Corporate Communication’ (MCPC) at the University of Navarra and have submitted your application via the miUNAV portal.
• Prior studies: You have obtained the qualification required for admission to the Master’s programme or are in your final year of study at the time of application. If you are in your final year of study, you must successfully complete your degree before the start of the Master’s programme in order to retain your funding.
• Grades: Your previous qualification shows an average mark of at least 7 out of 10 (or 2 out of 4).
• Language: You meet the language proficiency requirements set by the MCPC Admissions Committee.
• Nationality: One scholarship is open to applicants of all nationalities; the second is reserved exclusively for applicants from Latin America.

How to apply

You apply through the miUNAV portal. There you upload a short statement of up to 300 words explaining what you expect from the master and why you chose the University of Navarra. The deadline is 8 May. Your other documents come from your admission file. The MCPC selection committee scores your academic record, statement and CV, and sends results by email on 2 June.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is granted on a highly selective basis: only two scholarships are awarded, both of which are tied to a specific Master’s programme at a specific university, meaning that the pool of eligible applicants is small. If you clearly meet the academic and admission requirements and write a well-targeted personal statement, your chances are good, as your CV and personal statement each carry just as much weight as your academic results. Admission to the MCPC programme is the real hurdle here.
