About this scholarship
Basque Global Industry scholarship (SPRI)
You get 1,785 EUR gross per month to do a paid internship abroad lasting 6 to 12 months. The monthly grant is paid for up to 6 months. Before you leave, you take a 40 to 60-hour training course on the Basque economy, international business, intercultural negotiation and communication. Health and accident insurance is covered too. The programme is run by SPRI, the Basque business development agency, together with Basque Trade & Investment. They place you in a company or organisation abroad that matches your studies, mostly in sectors tied to Basque industry. For 2026 there are up to 341 places across more than 60 countries on five continents.
Who can apply
- Where you live: You have lived in the Basque Country for at least the 12 months before the deadline, or for 5 years in a row within the last 10 years.
- Age: You are under 30 on 1 January 2026.
- Qualification: You have a university degree (Grado) or a higher-level vocational qualification (Formación Profesional de Grado Superior).
- English: You have at least B2 English with a university degree, or at least B1 with a vocational qualification. An official certificate or an internal test both count.
- Field of study: Any subject that fits the Basque strategic sectors, such as engineering, health sciences, business administration, tourism, education or marketing.
How to apply
You apply to exactly one of the partner organisations (entidades colaboradoras) that offer the places, not to SPRI directly. If you apply to more than one, you are disqualified. The window runs from 23 July to 21 September 2026 at 23:59. Selection includes a check of your CV and documents, an English test if you have no official certificate, and a personal interview.
How realistic are your chances?
The award targets a specific group: graduates under 30 who live in the Basque Country and speak English well, so the applicant pool is naturally limited. With up to 341 places, there is real room, and a candidate whose field matches the strategic sectors has solid prospects. Apply early, and apply to the partner whose offers fit your profile best.
