About this scholarship

What you get

You get a paid traineeship in foreign affairs and EU relations with the Valencian regional government (Generalitat Valenciana). The grant is 1,088.43 EUR gross per month for posts in Spain. If you are placed at the regional office in Brussels, you get an extra 1,080 EUR gross per month, so about 2,168 EUR gross per month there. Income tax (IRPF) and social-security contributions are deducted. The traineeship runs for 12 months and can be extended by up to 12 more months if the budget allows. Placements are in Valencia, at the Europe Direct office in Alicante, or at the Valencian office in Brussels. Where you go depends on your final ranking and the preferences you state at interview.

Who can apply

  • Degree: You hold an official Spanish or EU-recognised degree (Licenciatura or Grado) in law, political science and public administration, economics, or business administration.
  • How recent: You finished that degree no more than 5 years ago.
  • Age: You are 35 or younger on the application deadline.
  • Nationality: You hold Spanish or another EU nationality.
  • Valencian: You have Valencian at level B1 or higher, certified by the Junta Qualificadora de Coneixements de Valencia.
  • Languages: You have English and French, each at level B1 or higher.
  • No long prior grants: You have not already held Generalitat traineeship grants for 36 months or more.

How to apply

You apply online through the Generalitat's electronic office (sede.gva.es). You submit a CV and a self-assessment of your merits. The deadline is 15 calendar days after the call is published in the official regional gazette (DOGV). After a provisional ranking, shortlisted candidates are invited to an interview, which decides the final list and your placement.
