About this scholarship

Basque Culinary Center Foundation Scholarship

You will receive a grant of 50% of your tuition fees for one academic year, which, based on the annual tuition fee for the Bachelor’s degree programme in ‘Gastronomy and Culinary Arts’, is equivalent to approximately 4,295 EUR. The Basque Culinary Centre Foundation funds this from its own resources to help students with good grades who cannot afford the full costs. The programme lasts 4 years, and you can renew the scholarship each year provided you continue to meet the eligibility criteria. You may combine it with other public or private scholarships, provided the total amount does not exceed your costs.

Who can apply

  • Degree: You have been admitted to the Bachelor’s degree programme in ‘Gastronomy and Culinary Arts’ at the Basque Culinary Centre (Mondragon Unibertsitatea) in San Sebastián, Spain, or are already studying there.
  • Age: You were born on 1 January 2005.
  • Financial need: You will receive the means-tested portion of an official Spanish government grant (from the Ministry of Education or the Basque Government) for 2026/2027. This means that you must be resident in Spain and meet the eligibility criteria for this government grant.
  • Grades (first year): Your average mark in the Bachillerato or in a higher vocational training programme (Ciclo Formativo de Grado Superior) is at least 7.0.
  • Grades (later years): To be granted an extension, you must have passed all your modules from the previous year with an average mark of at least 8.0.
  • Enrolment: You must register for all courses for the academic year, with the exception of those for which you have already received credit based on previous academic achievements.
  • No prior degree: You do not yet hold an official university degree.

How to apply

Please email your application form, a copy of your identity document, your official school report and proof of your state scholarship to the Student Administration Office. The application deadline is 18 May 2026. The Scholarship Committee will make its decision based on the documents you submit; therefore, there will be no interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is tied to a specific degree programme at a specific campus, and you must already be receiving a means-tested Spanish government scholarship, so the pool of eligible applicants is small. Up to 20% of the enrolled students can receive it, so places are limited but not uncommon. If you clearly meet the grade threshold, satisfy the eligibility criteria for state funding and apply by the deadline, your chances are good.
