About this scholarship

What the assistantship gives you

You will spend an academic year (10 months) at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania (USA). You will work as a teaching assistant for Spanish at the university’s Spanish Institute. As well as teaching, you will take two courses of your choice at Bucknell University, so that you can continue your studies whilst teaching. The financial support amounts to about 432 EUR. The University of Burgos (UBU) in Spain awards this place as part of a partnership with Bucknell University. Depending on the year, one or two places were available.

Who can apply

  • Your university: You are studying at the University of Burgos (UBU) in Spain.
  • Study phase: You have graduated or are in your final year of study.
  • Field of study: You are enrolled on one of the following degree programmes at UBU: Spanish Language and Literature, Audiovisual Communication, Humanities, or Primary School Teacher Training with a specialisation in English.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they meet the UBU’s entry requirements.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the Office of International Relations at the University of Burgos using the official application form. The call for applications is published during the winter term for the following academic year in the USA. For the 2015-2016 round, the application deadline was 6 March.

How realistic are your chances?

The selection criteria for this programme are very strict. You must be studying at a specific university, on one of the few specified degree programmes, and either already hold a degree or be in your final year of study. This leaves only a small group of applicants competing for one or two places, meaning that a suitable candidate has a genuine chance of success. Apply as soon as the winter application round opens, as places are limited.
