University of Salamanca study grants

In University of Salamanca, Spain, you may be eligible for one or both of the following benefits in the 2025/2026 academic year. The first is a study grant that covers the fees for the courses you are enrolling on for the first time. The second is a housing allowance, a one-off payment of flat 1,000 EUR, if you are unable to live with your parents. You can combine both grants. The university runs the programme in collaboration with the ‘Argimiro Gómez Martín’ Foundation, with a total budget of 330,000 EUR. If too many people meet the eligibility criteria, the amounts may be reduced on a pro rata basis.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled on a Grado degree programme (Bachelor’s degree programme) at the University of Salamanca for 2025/2026.
• Field of study: Any topic is fine.
• Nationality: You are a Spanish national or a national of another EU country. Non-EU nationals may apply provided they are lawfully resident in Spain on the cut-off date. To be eligible for the housing allowance, EU nationals must have permanent residence or provide proof of employment.
• No higher degree: You do not yet hold a qualification at the same level or a higher level than the one you are currently aiming for, and you are not yet in a position to obtain one.
• Credit load: You are taking at least 30 credit points this year and took at least 30 last year. An exception applies if you are completing your degree with a lower number of credit points still to be earned.
• Grades: From the second year of study onwards, you must have achieved a specified proportion of the credit points earned in the previous year: 80% in the fields of art, the humanities, social sciences and law; 70% in health sciences; 55% in the natural sciences, engineering and architecture.
• Financial need: Your household income and assets must be below the specified thresholds, which are based on the tax data from 2024. To be eligible for the student grant, the income of a four-person household must be below approximately 40,773 EUR.
• Housing grant only: You are a full-time student attending classes in person and can prove that you are required to live away from your parents’ home.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the University of Salamanca’s electronic portal between 15 January and 20 February 2026. A selection panel will award the scholarships starting with the lowest household incomes, meaning that applicants with the lowest incomes will be considered first. Please note that you cannot combine these scholarships with the general scholarships offered by the Spanish Ministry of Education for the same purpose.

How realistic are your chances?

This programme is open exclusively to students at a specific university and is awarded primarily on the basis of financial need; a lower household income therefore directly improves your chances. The funding pool of 330,000 EUR is distributed amongst the entire student body. The tighter your family budget is and the more clearly you meet the requirements regarding academic performance and marks, the better your chances are.
