About this award / prize

Sondheimer Prize

You will receive a cash prize of about 120 EUR, awarded by the Department of Chemistry at University College London (UCL) in the United Kingdom. This award recognises outstanding academic achievement by undergraduates studying chemistry. The prize is named after Franz Sondheimer, an organic chemist who worked at UCL.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You’re studying chemistry at UCL.
  • Level: You are an undergraduate student (BSc or MSci).
  • Grades: Your marks are among the best in your year group.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How realistic are your chances?

You don’t need to apply for this award. The department selects the best Bachelor’s students in Chemistry. The pool of eligible students is small, but the standard is high. If your grades are among the best in your year group, you’ve got a real chance.
