About this scholarship
What you get
The tuition fee for the ‘Education Practice’ Master’s programme at De Montfort University (DMU) in Leicester, England, is half the tuition fees. This is a fee reduction, not a cash payment. The amount will be deducted directly from your tuition fees and can be spread over the entire duration of your studies, regardless of whether you are studying full-time or part-time. The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences has awarded four of these scholarships to help its own graduates make the transition to a Master’s programme.
Who can apply
- Your degree: You are currently studying for a Bachelor’s degree in ‘Education Studies’ (Hons) at DMU and are expected to graduate in the summer of 2015.
- Grades: On this bachelor’s degree programme, you will achieve a grade of at least 2:1 (upper second class).
- Next step: You are enrolling on the ‘DMU Education Practice’ Master’s programme for 2015/16, either on a full-time or part-time basis.
- Fee status: You are considered a domestic or EU fee payer.
- Who pays: You pay your tuition fees yourself and have no outstanding debts to the university.
- Other awards: You are not receiving any other DMU scholarship alongside this one.
How to apply
Please complete the scholarship application form and send it to the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, together with a letter of motivation of 500 words explaining why you should be awarded the scholarship. The documents from your application for the Master’s programme will also be taken into account in the decision. A selection committee will make its decision based on your academic and professional achievements. To be considered, you must have accepted your place on the Master’s programme by Friday, 19 June 2015. The results were communicated in writing by the end of July.
How realistic are your chances?
The eligibility criteria for this award were very narrow. Only graduates of the ‘Education’ degree programme at DMU with a 2:1 who had progressed to a specific Master’s programme were eligible to apply, and there were only four places available. If one met these criteria exactly, the field of competitors was small and a strong graduate had a genuine chance. This describes the only 2015/16 round, and there is no indication that it has taken place again since then.
