About this scholarship
Marcus Wallenberg Foundation research grants
You will receive a grant to fund research in the field of business administration. A full-year research grant for PhD students or postdoctoral researchers is usually around 13,000 EUR. A travel grant for an international conference ranges from 1,000 EUR to 2,200 EUR, which you can apply for once a year. If you are an experienced researcher leading a larger project, you can apply for up to 300,000 EUR over a period of 2 to 3 years. The funding comes from the Dr h.c. Marcus Wallenberg Foundation for Business Research. This is an independent Finnish foundation that supports business and management-related research, primarily in Finland.
Who can apply
- Level: You are a PhD student, postdoctoral researcher or senior researcher leading a project. Research groups may apply as a team.
- Field: Your field of work is in business administration or in an area central to management.
- Research plan: You have submitted a clear, well-reasoned research proposal. The Foundation supports high-quality, internationally oriented research, so competition is fierce.
- Supervisor: To apply for a PhD scholarship covering full-time research, your supervisor will submit a letter of recommendation.
- Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
- Project grants: A research project must be led by a senior researcher and be based at a university. The university provides the facilities and handles the payments.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted in English via the online funding system at wallenberg.apurahat.fi. You will need to provide a CV, a research proposal of no more than 3 pages, a list of your publications and a budget. A budget is not required for PhD scholarships. You can apply for personal grants from 11 December 2026 until 8 February 2027. Late applications will not be considered. A separate application deadline in mid-June applies to research project grants.
