Travel and research grants for research into sexually transmitted diseases

You get a one-off grant of at least 1,000 EUR. Use it either to carry out research into sexually transmitted diseases or to travel to a conference on the topic. Smaller grants under 1,000 EUR are also given at other times during the year, mostly to cover conference travel. The money comes from the Sukupuolitautien vastustamisyhdistys ry (Association for the Prevention of Sexually Transmitted Diseases), a Finnish association based at Helsinki University Hospital (HUS). It funds this field every year.

Who can apply

• Field: Your research or the conference you are attending must relate to sexually transmitted infections.
• Conference talk: To be awarded a travel grant, you must give a talk or present a poster at the conference.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Institution: You can apply from any university or research institution.

How to apply

Please send an informal application by email to the association with the subject line ‘apuraha’. Please attach a research proposal, a brief CV and a list of all grants you have received over the last three years. The main deadline is 28 February each year. You can apply for smaller travel grants at other times via the same contact person.
