Prague-France Joint Artist-in-Residence Programme

You will spend 3 months at MeetFactory in Prague and receive a monthly grant of 1,035 EUR, split into an artist’s fee of 700 euros and 335 euros towards living expenses. The CEAAC will pay this amount upon receipt of an invoice. You will also be provided with a studio, a place to live in a shared flat, and your return economy-class flight. MeetFactory will provide you with a budget of 200 EUR to produce works for its annual ‘Open Studios’, where you can showcase your work, as well as technical support and contacts with local artists. The residency runs from 8 February to 8 May 2026. This is an exchange programme organised jointly by the CEAAC in Strasbourg, the MeetFactory and the Institut Français in Prague: whilst you travel to Prague, a Czech artist will travel to Strasbourg.

Who can apply

• What you do: You are a visual artist and work with a variety of media, such as installation, sculpture, photography or digital art.
• Career stage: You are at an early or mid-stage of your career.
• Link to the region: You can demonstrate a connection to the French region of Grand Est (Alsace/Lorraine), for example by having been born there, having completed your education there or working there.
• Artist status: You are registered under the French scheme for artists and authors (régime des artistes-auteurs), which enables you to issue invoices.
• Age and nationality: Applicants of any age and nationality may apply, provided they meet the regional requirements and the criteria relating to their status as an artist.
• Duos: You can apply as a duo. The fees are paid once; you’ll share the studio and the flat, but travel expenses will be covered for both of you.
• Recent residencies: You have not completed a CEAAC placement in the last 2 years.

How to apply

Apply through the online form on the CEAAC call page by 2 November 2025. A jury from the CEAAC, the French Institute in Prague and MeetFactory draws up a shortlist. From 17 November 2025 shortlisted artists have an individual video interview in English, and results are announced at the end of November.

How realistic are your chances?

This residency is aimed at a narrowly defined group: applicants must have a genuine connection to the Grand Est region and be registered in the French register of artists and authors, meaning that only a few people meet the criteria. If you clearly meet these conditions and can present a compelling, feasible project – particularly one that picks up on 2025/26’s focus on alternative narratives and populism – your chances are good. One place is awarded per cycle to a French participant, so a concise, well-reasoned proposal is of the utmost importance.
