Oise department student loan

You will receive an interest-free loan of 1,000, 1,500 or 2,000 EUR per year, the amount of which you can choose yourself. The term is up to 3 years (renewable twice, i.e. a maximum of 6,000 EUR). You pay no interest and do not need to provide a deposit as security. Repayment begins 3 years after you complete your studies. You can repay the loan amount in a single lump sum or in instalments, and early repayment is possible. The loan is granted by the Oise Departmental Council (Conseil départemental de l’Oise) to enable students from the region to study under more favourable financial conditions.

Who can apply

• Level of study: You are studying at a public or private university. Vocational training, further education and apprenticeships do not count.
• Field of study: Any topic is fine.
• Age: You are under 30.
• Nationality: You are a French national.
• Where you live: You must have lived in the Oise department for at least 2 years (student halls of residence do not count). If you are financially dependent on your parents, they must also live there.
• Guarantor: At least one parent, a legal guardian or another French national must agree to act as a guarantor, i.e. they must promise to repay the debt should you be unable to do so.
• Progress: You attend your classes and follow a consistent study programme.
• Family income: Your family’s declared annual income is below a certain threshold. This threshold increases with the size of the household and ranges from 20,000 EUR for a small household to 60,000 EUR for larger households.

How to apply

Please submit your application by 31 March of the current academic year to the Department of Education, Youth, Culture and Sport of the Faculty Council in Beauvais.

How realistic are your chances?

This loan is aimed at a limited target group. You must be a French national, be under 30, have lived in the Oise department for two years and not exceed the income thresholds for families. As a result, the group of eligible applicants remains small and locally restricted. If you clearly meet these conditions and can provide a guarantor, your chances are good. Bear in mind that this is a loan that you will have to repay, not a grant. You should therefore carefully consider whether this is a suitable option for you.
