King's Living Bursary

During your studies at King’s College London, you will receive an annual grant of up to about 2,300 EUR (up to £2,000) to cover your living costs. This does not need to be repaid. The exact amount depends on your household income and when you started your studies. If you started in 2025/26, you will receive £2,000 per year if your household income is £25,000 or less, £1,900 for the years £25,001 to £33,500, and £1,600 for the years £33,501 to £42,875.. Students who started in 2024/25 or earlier will receive £1,600,, £1,500 or £1,200 in the same income brackets. King’s College London reviews and renews the grant for each academic year. The grant is paid out by King’s College London itself.

Who can apply

• University: You’re studying at King’s College London.
• Degree level: You are currently undertaking your first full-time bachelor’s degree or a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), a teacher training programme.
• Where you're from: You have ‘UK Home’ status and are eligible for a living costs grant from Student Finance. If you are an EU student who is only receiving the tuition fee loan but not the living costs loan, you cannot apply.
• Financial need: According to the assessment by the student finance authority, your household income is £42,875 per year or less.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Not eligible: You cannot apply if you are undertaking a postgraduate course in healthcare leading to registration, or if you are receiving the NHS scholarship package (for example, as a medical or dental student in an NHS-funded academic year). Students studying nursing and related healthcare professions who receive NHS training grants may still apply.

How to apply

You do not need to apply directly. King’s will automatically check whether you meet the eligibility criteria and will contact you by the end of November. For this to work, Student Finance must carry out a means test on your household income, and you, your parents or your partner must consent to this income data being shared. For 2025/26, please have your income assessed by 30 June 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competition. It is a entitlement for everyone at King’s College who meets the income and status criteria. So, if you meet the criteria, you will receive the grant without having to stand out in any particular way. It is essential that you have your household income assessed by Student Finance in good time and that you consent to your details being shared. If you fail to do this, you will lose the grant, even if you are otherwise eligible.
